Built for use at home or a small office, the Comet CM-C60CD Cross Cut Paper Shredder is a medium duty shredder that keeps your sensitive and confidential records beyond the reach of would-be identity thieves.
The shredder cuts sheets of paper into small pieces with measurements of 0.16" x 1.65" (4 mm x 42 mm). This means that the shredder falls under Security Level 2 of the DIN system of classification, although it is short by only 12 mm for Security Level 3 (Confidential).
A paper feed slot with a width of 8.86 inches is sufficiently wide to accept regular letter and legal size documents. You can insert up to six 20-pound papers in one go. Apart from sheets of paper, the shredder can also mince credit cards and staples. There is an area in the middle of the paper entry slot that is designed to accept credit cards.
Featuring an auto start/stop function, the shredder goes into standby mode when switched on, automatically powering up the blades if it detects that pieces of papers or a credit card is inserted into the entry slot. After shredding, it also automatically reverts to standby mode. In the event of a jam, you can manually switch to reverse mode to eject the jammed papers.
Shredding speed is a quick 8 feet per minute. At this rate, you can shred approximately half a ream of letter size documents in five minutes. After this, however, the machine automatically shuts off to prevent overheating. A cool down time of 45 minutes is enough to resume shredding without any danger of damaging the shredder.
Operating at a low noise level of only 68 decibels, the shredder allows you to continue carrying a conversation while running.
The head of the Comet CM-C60CD Cross Cut Paper Shredder is lifted from the waste bin if it needs to be emptied. A large window clearly showing the contents of the bin at its front renders a bin full warning light superfluous.
The shredder measures approximately 13" H x 9" D x 12" W. Colored black, it blends with any room or office décor.
